The U.S. Government has created a new National Security Language Initiative (NSLI) that would aid in funding students who wish to study "critical-need" languages abroad. In an effort to increase funding for students, proposals include increasing the critical needs languages initiatives through Gilman scholarships, Fulbright student scholarships, and creating new summer immersion study programs in the State Department.
