Teach For America

Today, nearly 4,400 Teach for America corps members work in 25 urban and rural areas profoundly affected by the academic achievement gap. They are working extraordinarily hard to ensure their students achieve academic success- despite the challenges they face growing up in low-income communities. Teach For America alumni are working from all sectors to effect the fundamental changes necessary to ensure educational equity in our country.

Teach For America seeks leaders of all academic backgrounds and professional ambitions to teach for two years in urban and rural public schools and to become lifelong leaders in the effort to expand opportunities for children.

Corps members receive full salaries and benefits, and are eligible to receive transitional grants and loans. No education courses or experience is required. Many of the nation's top graduate schools offer benefits such as two-year deferrals, fellowships, course credits, and waived application fees to Teach For America alumni.
