EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION: INTERNSHIP

Sara Sena
Graphic Design

As an International student I was not aware of all the opportunities that Career Services offered to all UE students. My relationship with the Career Services staff started when I attended a residence hall floor meeting that answered questions about creating resumes and finding opportunities through UE JobLink.

As a junior graphic design major, I knew I needed to start looking for possible internships and thus needed to create a resume.  After receiving great help from Career Services to create my resume, I was able to start looking for summer internships.  I attended the Career Day 2007 event and distributed my resume to different companies.  The next day I got an email about an interview for a possible summer internship at Berry Plastics Corp.  Several weeks later I had an internship and was ready for my summer!  The staff members also helped me finish all the paperwork that I had to complete for my international status.  They were very informative and answered all my questions.

Now I have a good experience that has enhanced my professional development and career opportunities.  Additionally, this experience has introduced me to the real world of design.  Upon graduation, I am now hopeful that I may be able to find a job in the US.  I also know that when I start my job search…I will contact the office of Career Services and Cooperative Education for assistance.
